NEAR is in the process of migration. While it is a big event, it still raises many questions among the crypto community. Let Nightly solve them for you!
What's NEAR migration?
NEAR ecosystem currently includes lots of wallets supported by an enormous and active NEAR community. To commemorate this expansion and emphasize decentralization, Pagoda (creators of NEAR Wallet) decided to shut down the operations of their products and transform them from a browser wallet into a wallet hub. This hub serves as a central point for all NEAR wallets, allowing users to explore and choose the most suitable wallet for their requirements, including the Nightly Wallet, and transfer their NEAR Wallet to another wallet working on this chain.
Why migrate my NEAR wallet?
As NEAR Wallet shut down its development and support on the 8th of January. This makes its use less safe, so users who want to trade safely have to transfer their wallet to another wallet.
Which NEAR wallet should I choose?
There are plenty of wallets working on NEAR, and it's a big choice to be made while migrating. As a Nightly, we believe our wallet is the best choice for every crypto user.
When does NEAR migration end?
NEAR Wallet isn't supported anymore from the 8th of January.
Do I have to migrate on NEAR?
Migration to another NEAR wallet is necessary for the possibility of managing user's assets.
How to migrate on NEAR
Migrating on NEAR is an easy process. We've prepared an entire blog post explaining how to do that.
What wallets can I use for NEAR migration?
There are a few wallets that can be chosen for migrating. Besides Nightly Wallet, there's MyNearWallet, Meteor Wallet, HERE Wallet, Welldone Wallet, and Sender Wallet.
Will I lose my assets while doing NEAR migration?
No, you won't. The only required tokens are those which will be used to pay a fee for transactions.
What if I want to migrate my NEAR Ledger?
Unfortunately, Transfer Wizard doesn't support hardware wallets, so you have to transfer your assets manually.
As migration still creates some confusion, we believe that with this blog we could clarify some of them. But if you still need some answers, check our Twitter or Discord and ask us a question! We will solve it together.
